John W. McCain
Get ready for Bush's 3rd term!
Iran and al Qaeda have no relation. That fact is simple enough for all Americans to grasp (presidential candidates included!). Shiites rule Iran, whereas al Qaeda are a radical sect of Sunnis. In short, they hate each other.
John McCain, who is running for President on his Iraq and national security record and who has joked about bombing Iran to the tune of the Beach Boys' song "Barbara Ann," has repeatedly confused Iran and al Qaeda:
McCain, expressing concern about Iran's rising sway in the Mideast, said, "Al-Qaeda is going back into Iran and is receiving training and are coming back into Iraq from Iran." He made the comments . . . at a news conference in Jordan; he made similar comments earlier to radio talk show host Hugh Hewitt.
What was it that made McCain make this obvious error again and again? Lies? Senior moment? Complete and total lack of understanding of the most simple facts about the Middle East? The American people deserve an answer to that question considering that this man wishes to be our commander in chief.
